Documents we may require to register your new/used vehicle:
- Proof of ownership: The Bill of Sale (BOS) or Lease Agreement must be signed by both parties
- Proof of ownership documents (bill of sale/lease agreement etc.) can be an original, a photocopy or electronic.
- You are required to provide an Original NVIS when registering a new vehicle, exceptions may apply.
- Proof of valid insurance (not required for trailers)
- Valid ID
- All owners on the ownership document are required to be present or provide authorization for someone else to do the service on their behalf by filling out the official Authorization form
Renewing your registration:
You may use one of the following combinations to renew your registration:
- The old registration (not expired more than 3 months) and proof of valid insurance.
OR - Your valid driver’s licence and proof of valid insurance.
OR - If your registration has been expired for more than 3 months but less than one year you can renew your registration online here:
If you are renewing for someone other than yourself;
- The old registration (not expired more than 3 months) and proof of valid insurance.
OR - An authorization form, proof of valid insurance and valid photo ID for the authorized representative attending the office.
*Please note If your registration has been expired for more than one year you will be required to provide additional information to renew, contact us for more information or visit us in person* - If all signing parties cannot attend the office together, you may provide authorization for someone else to do the service on your behalf by filling out the official Authorization form
Lost or stolen plates or registration
If your licence plate is lost or stolen, you must report it to the RCMP. You will be required to provide us the file number you obtain from the RCMP to receive a replacement.
All registered owners must be present. If not, you may provide authorization for someone else to do the service on your behalf by filling out the official Authorization form

Drivers Licensing
Driver’s Licence/ID Card Renewal:
To renew your licence you will need to bring one of the following:
- Existing (or expired no more than 6 months) drivers licence/ID Card
If your driver’s licence/ID Card is lost or stolen, you may bring any of the following documents to renew it:
- Proof of Legal Entitlement in Canada
- Proof of Alberta Residency (dated within the last 90 days)

When coming in regarding your driver licence, always be prepared to have your picture taken.
Address Change:
You can update your address at anytime by visiting our office with your current driver’s licence/ID Card and verbally confirm it with an agent.
Lost or Stolen Driver Licence/ID Card
To replace your lost or stolen Drivers Licence/ID Card you may be required to bring in extra documentation:
- Proof of Legal Entitlement in Canada
- Proof of Alberta Residency (dated within the last 90 days)
*It is not required but recommended that you report your lost or stolen driver’s licence to the RCMP*.
Learners’ Test and Knowledge Test
We do all classes of knowledge tests - 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, Air Endorsement (airbrake tests) as well as Safety Fitness exams.

If you are under 18
Clients under 18 require consent from a parent or guardian OR a consent for minor form when being issued a driver’s licence/ID card.
· Writing a knowledge test:
Clients under 18 wanting to write a knowledge test must bring proof of legal entitlement or an existing Government issued ID Card. (Minor’s are not required to have a parent present when they attempt the learners test although they will need a parent/guardian OR a consent for minor form when issuing the drivers licence/ID Card).
If you are over 18
Clients over 18 seeking an ID Card/Drivers Licence or wanting to write a knowledge test must provide proof of legal entitlement, proof of Alberta residency (dated within 90 days) and proof of Identity (photo). Exceptions may apply.

Road Test Services
Road tests can be booked online or in person and are to be paid in full at the time of booking.
We offer both class 5 and class 6 road tests.
Government Road Testing:
We can check you in for your government road test up to 72hrs prior to your appointment. Contact us for more information on what is required for your check-in.

Personal and commercial abstracts are available
To obtain your Drivers Abstract you can do one the following:
- Visit the Alberta.ca website and download and fill out the forms.
- Visit us at our office to complete the service.
Current OR Overdue Fines:
- You may visit us in person or go to fines.ab.ca to pay your current or overdue fines;
- If you have current fines (court date has not past) you must provide the original ticket to us in office to make a payment.
- Original tickets are not required if your fines are overdue (past the court date).
- You may also be required to provide valid photo identification

Marriage Licence
We provide marriage licences to those getting married in Alberta. To obtain a marriage licence:
- Complete the Marriage Application form
- Be getting married in the next 90 days
- Bring valid photo identification (only one spouse is required to provide photo ID however both spouses must provide a valid identification document).
- If you were previously married and now divorced you will need to provide the divorce certificate.
Legal Name Change
To apply for a Legal name change you will need the Legal Name Change Application form. These forms are available at our office.

ID, Support Documents & Alberta Residency
If you are wanting to obtain a driver’s licence/ID card for the first time or it has been expired for more than 6 months, you are required to provide proof of Legal Entitlement and proof of Alberta Residency:
Proof of Entitlement (all documents must be valid, not expired and original):
- Canadian Birth Certificate
- Canadian Passport
- Canadian Citizenship
- Permanent Residency Card
- Work/Visitor/Study Permit
- Secured Indian Status Card
Proof of Alberta Residency (document must show your current address, full name and be valid within 90 days):
- Utility, Gas, Phone or Cable Bill
- Bank or Credit Card Statement
- Residential Lease Agreement, Mortgage Document or Land Title
- Income Tax Assessment Summary
- Alberta Social Benefit Statement or Cheques
- Pay stub
- Written Confirmation of Alberta Employment (must be signed and dated within the last 15 days)

Commissioners for oaths can:

Remember:
The person named on the document must bring picture ID and the unsigned documents to be commissioned.
